The SEC has announced another 25% reduction in corporate data request fees effective June 1, 2026, making business transactions more affordable and accessible. ✅

This is on top of the previous 50% fee reduction implemented in 2025 as part of the Ease of Doing Business initiative.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced the suspension of monthly penalties for the late or non-filing of reportorial requirements until December 31, 2026.

This initiative aims to reduce transaction costs and support the Ease of Doing Business program by giving corporations the opportunity to restore their good standing without the burden of continuously increasing penalties.

📌 Important Details:
✅ Suspension is effective until December 31, 2026
✅ Applies to corporations with pending monitoring applications
✅ Corporations with unpaid final assessments will receive updated assessments excluding monthly delay penalties
✅ Based on SEC Memorandum Circular No. 16, Series of 2026
✅ Encourages corporations to comply with reportorial requirements and maintain active status

According to the SEC, the move promotes compliance, sustainable growth, and a more business-friendly environment for corporations.

📢 𝗕𝗜𝗥 𝗟𝗔𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗦 “𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦” 𝗚𝗨𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) issued RMC No. 47-2026 to simplify business closure and tax registration cancellation under the “Ease of Paying Taxes Act.”

📌 Important Details:
✅ Businesses may now apply for closure manually or electronically through their registered RDO
✅ Documentary requirements were reduced and simplified
✅ Penalties for non-filing stop once complete requirements are submitted
✅ Registered tax forms will be placed under “deregistered” status to prevent additional open cases
✅ Micro taxpayers are exempt from mandatory audit for closure/cancellation
✅ Tax Clearance may now be released within three (3) working days for qualified taxpayers

The BIR encourages taxpayers with inactive or closed businesses to process proper cancellation to avoid continuous penalties and update their registration records.
