HAPPY FIESTA MOALBOAL 🎊🎉
HAPPY FIESTA, SAN JUAN NEPOMUCENO DE MOALBOAL
With hearts full of joy and thanksgiving, we celebrate today the Feast Day of San Juan Nepomuceno, our beloved patron and protector. As a parish community, we come together in prayer, gratitude, and unity, honoring a saint whose life continues to inspire us to remain faithful, courageous, and steadfast in God’s love.
San Juan Nepomuceno was born around 1345 in Bohemia (now the Czech Republic). He served as a priest and later as the Vicar General of Prague. He is best known for his unwavering faithfulness to the Sacrament of Confession. According to tradition, he refused to reveal the confession of the queen to King Wenceslaus IV, choosing instead to remain loyal to God’s law. Because of this, he was tortured and eventually thrown into the Vltava River, where he died a martyr. He is now honored as the patron saint of confessors, bridges, and those who keep secrets, symbolizing integrity, silence, and fidelity to truth.
The San Juan Nepomuceno Parish of Moalboal traces its roots back to the Spanish missionary period, when the Catholic faith was first introduced in the town. Established as one of the early parishes in southern Cebu, it became a center of evangelization and community life. Through the years, the parish has grown not only in structure but also in faith—shaped by generations of devoted parishioners, clergy, and lay leaders. Now celebrating its 174th Fiesta, the parish stands as a living witness to a vibrant and enduring faith, united in mission and devotion to its patron.
As we celebrate this joyful day, may we continue to follow the example of San Juan Nepomuceno—to remain faithful in truth, steadfast in prayer, and courageous in witnessing our faith.
Let this celebration also remind us of this year’s theme:
“San Juan Among Dalangpan—sa imong pagpaminaw kami buhi sa among Kristohanong Panaw.”
May our hearts remain open in listening, united in love, and alive in Christ.
Viva San Juan Nepomuceno!
