I’ve been asked many times why I don’t simply give clients to aspiring virtual assistants.
The answer is simple:
What happens when that client leaves?
Even after 7 years in freelancing, I still lose clients. Contracts end. Burnout happens. Rejections happen.
And honestly? I still cry sometimes when long-term clients leave.
But every single time, I bounce back because I know how to find opportunities on my own.
That’s why I don’t believe in spoon-feeding.
I’ve coached people before.
Some were given step-by-step guidance, resources, templates, and support—but still ended up with zero clients because they never developed accountability and resilience.
Freelancing isn’t a BPO setup where referrals alone can sustain your career.
You need to learn the skill of hunting, pitching, improving, and showing up consistently.
If a simple request like “Send me your updated resume” already feels overwhelming, this industry will be much harder than you expect.
This path isn’t for people looking for instant income. It’s for people willing to build a strong foundation.
The reason I keep choosing freelancing, despite the challenges, is because it allows me to pursue my motherhood dream without sacrificing my careerwoman dream.
And that’s worth fighting for.
So for whatever reason you have. Bottomline here is. If you can’t commit to keep choosing freelancing. This surely isn’t for you.
Success here always comes after discomfort.
So follow Virtual Assistants PH because this has always been my virtual diary of my real experiences, lessons, wins, failures, and thoughts as a long-time virtual assistant.
And in my next video, I’ll share how to fish for clients the right way—so you can build a sustainable, long-term freelancing career instead of depending on referrals and handouts.
