THE LAST 60 DAYS: CLARK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORTโS WORLD CLASS TERMINAL, READY FOR TAKE OFF!
From enhancing air connectivity and mobility, the Department of Transportation (DOTr), under the indefatigable leadership of Secretary Art Tugade, likewise aims to make the travel experience seamless, comfortable, and beyond expectations.
Thus, airport modernization and development projects are being relentlessly pursued, anchored in the vow made by Secretary Tugadeโto waste no time at all, and remain working until the last day of office.
Today, the new passenger terminal building of Clark International Airport (CRK) is set to open for the air-riding public, as all departing and arriving flights were successfully transferred to the state-of-the-art facility, primed to be Asiaโs next premier gateway.
The design capacity of the 110,000-sqm new terminal building enables the airport to serve a total of eight (8) million passengers every year.
Domestic and international travelers at the terminal will experience a โnew normalโ way of air travel, as they will be welcomed with the airportโs contactless features, such as self-service check-in kiosks and bag drop systems, on top of inclusive amenities including all-gender restrooms, nursing stations, multi-faith prayer rooms, and the country's first-ever lounge dedicated exclusively for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
With this new, modern aviation hub, and start of its operations, it will not only help in decongesting the air traffic at NAIA in Manila, it will also open doors for job opportunities, more progressive tourism, and advanced socio-economic endeavors in the region, and the entire archipelago.
A joint project by the DOTr and the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), the new CRK passenger terminal building is the first hybrid public-private partnership (PPP) project under the โBuild, Build, Buildโ Program of the Duterte administration. In January 2021, the DOTr and BCDA turned over the airport terminal to its operations and maintenance partner, the Luzon International Premiere Airport Development (LIPAD) Corporation.
As Secretary Tugade heartwarmingly expressed, โCRK is a realized dreamโ and a pride for every Filipino.
