Guest booked 20 days in advance but didn’t have full payment at check-in, claiming a bank remittance delay. After 3 days, full payment still wasn’t made, yet she kept asking for more time. So I accepted whatever she could pay that day to avoid canceling the authorization. After 6 nights she checked out with an unpaid balance of almost 2 nights.
Booking was originally 20 days, so we were spared a bigger loss.
Lesson: Always enforce full payment upon check-in. Be flexible if you want, but don’t compromise your policy.
