Pasig City’s Floating Parks project is now a step closer to being a reality as City Mayor Vico Sotto receives a $1 Million grant after representing his city at the recently held Bloomberg CityLab 2026 in Madrid, Spain.

The Bloomberg CityLab is a global cities summit featuring more than 100 city mayors and various interactive events, discussions, and panels. The Pasig City Public Information Office shared in an online post that Mayor Vico joined the CityLab’s Innovation Studio component and “Reimagining Rivers” breakout session.

The same event also recognized the 24 city government winners of the Bloomberg Philanthropies 2025-2026 Mayors Challenge earlier this year. This is the competition that rewards local governments that propose projects and ideas that improve services to constituents. Among the winners of the $1 Million grant is Pasig City for its Floating Parks project.

The government of Pasig has collaborated with ALAO Design Studio in “reimagining flood-prone waterways as floating parks—reconnecting people back to their waterfront and history, expanding green space, and strengthening community ties.”

“Pasig City River Park is a case study in how urbanization can reinvent itself for the benefit of its citizens while realigning itself towards nature; no matter the scale,” shared ALAO Design in an online post.

Aside from the $1 Million grant, the city of Pasig will also receive expert advice and additional funding for the design of the floating parks.
