HOW I LANDED MY FIRST FREELANCE JOB —
Back in August 2021, I risked a huge amount to invest sa isang NFT game named Drake Ball. I didn’t know any better and ni hindi ako masyadong nagresearch about crypto or NFT games. In just a span of 2 weeks I lost the money, biruin mo credit card pa ginamit ko nun para makapag invest. So I am left with a big debt and I am only earning 25k per month. As a sole provider to my small family, ako lang nagbabayad lahat ng bills including rent. I also have other credit card installments and the monthly expenses and daily food allowance namin is no joke. Sobrang kulang yung sahod ko and paubos na yung savings ko dahil dun ko hinihila lahat ng kulang.
Pero syempre laban lang ang lady glitter nyo dahil nako hindi ako lumaki sa kalsada at nag pati pato panabla sa text para sumuko. 😂 I started finding part time jobs sa Upwork na related sa crypto currencies. I landed my first job sa Upwork as a Community Manager sa isang NFT Collections. Hindi tracked ang hours ko and after a week or two I got 2 or 3 more part time clients. Of course it was hard, I had no one to ask sa mga tasks na pinapagawa saken pero Google is my bestfriend. In less than a month, I was able to pay yung inutang ko sa credit card para sa naging failed NFT game investment ko and I started earning twice as much sa aking full time job salary. I was beyond grateful! I was even able to have my partner work with my other clients (under my contract).
In 3 months time eto yung mga naging role ko sa aking mga clients:
- Community Manager
- Social Media Manager
- Marketing Manager
Bago pa man nangyari ang lahat ng ito, akala ko magkakaroon ako ng client kapag patuloy kong kinulit lang ang friend kong VA since 2018. Pero hindi pala ganun, kailangan ko palang umeffort. Dapat yung eagerness and willingness to learn is nasa akin. Lahat ng resources available online, pero dahil hindi ako agad nag effort. Dahil naghintay lang ako ng work na ibibigay saken, hindi agad binigay sa akin ni Lord. Then, I had to be at my lowest para magsumikap ako sa sarili ko.
This is a reminder to everyone na gusto mag start ng kanilang freelancing career. Hindi sya madali, pero hindi imposible. You first need to have the right attitude (sa work to ha 😅) and things will fall into place.
