Mathematics Tricks and Shortcuts©
Easy steps for Squaring 2 digit numbers ending with a 5:

Example: Squaring 75 i.e. (75 * 75)

1) Take the tens digit of the number, (7 in this case) and add 1 to it. (7+1=8)
2) Now multiply the original tens digit with this new number. ( 7*8=56)
3) Now take the result so obtained (56) and place 25 after it. (5625)
4) The result obtained is your answer. (Thus, the square of 75 is 5625.)

Try this with other two digit numbers ending with 5.

When the numbers we are multiplying are separated by 2 (for example 7 and 5), then multiply the number in the middle by itself and subtract one:
5×5 = 25 is just one bigger than 6×4 = 24
6×6 = 36 is just one bigger than 7×5 = 35
7×7 = 49 is just one bigger than 8×6 = 48
8×8 = 64 is just one bigger than 9×7 = 63

3 Cases of Pronouns

1. NOMINATIVE/SUBJECTIVE - used when the pronoun is the subject of the sentence. Examples: I, she, you, he, they
Ibig sabihin, matutukoy mo na nominative ang case ng pronouns kung ang mismong pronoun ang pinag-uusapan o subject.
Ang subject ay siya ang gumawa ng kilos o action.

Halimbawa: She brought me my favorite ice cream.

Ang "she" 'yon ang subject don kasi siya ang pinag-uusapan. Kapag magtanong ka na "Who brought the ice cream?" Ang sagot ay "SHE" kasi siya ang gumawa ng kilos sa sentence.
TANDAAN: ang nominative pronoun o ang subject ay sinusundan ng verb o action word.
"Brought" is a verb.

2. OBJECTIVE - case is used as the direct object, indirect object, or the object of the preposition.
Examples: Me, you, him, her, it, and them

Ito yong tinuturo ng subject, ito yong tumatanggap ng kilos ng subject kumbaga receiver siya. Para sa kaniya ang kilos na ginagawa ng subject.

HALIMBAWA: She brought me my favorite ice cream.

Ang objective don ay ang "me" kasi para sa kaniya ang ice cream na dinala ng she.
TANDAAN : ang objective makikita pagkatapos/kasunod ng salitang kilos o verb.

3. POSSESSIVE - used to show ownership or possession of something.
Example : My, mine, our(s), his/her(s), their, its, and yours.
Ang possessive naman ay ang nagmamay-ari ng bagay, hayop, o tao.

HALIMBAWA: She brought me my favorite ice cream.

Ang possessive dyan ay ang "my" kasi inaangkin niya na paborito niya ang ice cream.
TANDAAN : Ang possessive pronoun ay makikita bago o pagkatapos ng bagay, tao, hayop atbp. na pinag-uusapan.

Making Multiplication Easier

Multiplying two-digit numbers (less than 100 and greater or equal to 80)

Example

94 × 97

Step 1
Find the difference of each number from 100

94 × 97
6 3

That is,
100 - 94 = 6
100 - 97 = 3

Step 2
Cross subtract the differences to the numbers

(94 - 3) = (97 - 6) = 91

91, is the first part of the answer

*cross subtract always yields the same result
*in this case it's 91

Step 3
Multiply the differences

6 × 3 = 18

18, is the last part of the answer

THUS, 94 × 97 = 9118

That's It!

Ctto. Secrets of Mental Math

Multiplying any two - digit number by eleven

Consider the problem

32 × 11

To solve this problem, simply add the digits, 3 + 2 = 5, put the 5 between the 3 and 2, and there is your answer

32 × 11 = 352

Now you try

53 × 11

Since 5 + 3 = 8, your answer is simply 583

One more. Without looking at the answer or writing anything down, what is

81 × 11?

Did you get 891? Congratulations!
Now before you get too excited, this is only half of what you need to know. Suppose the problem is

85 × 11

Although 8 + 5 = 13, the answer is NOT 8135!
As before, the 3 goes in between the numbers, but the 1 needs to be added to the 8 to get the correct answer

935

Here is another example
Try 57 × 11

Since 5 + 7 = 12, the answer is

627

Okay, now it's your turn. As fast as you can, what is

77 × 11?

If you got the answer 847, then your are right.

That's it. Just take a moment to practice your new skill a few times then start showing off. You will be amazed at the reaction you get. (Whether or not you decide to reveal the secret is up to you!)

Have fun!
