Surveyors always have to measure their work carefully and to exercise an accurate work ethic by having faith in the methods of measurement they have established as they are using them in the field or office. Some times are going to find that you will have a number of hours in the hot sun, measuring and staking the lines from the ground-based point marks that only you will ever know exist but are invaluable to you.
Similar to that of the surveyor who does not know how he or she is progressing until later; every time a surveyor takes a good measurement or performs a correct calculation, he or she is laying a foundation for greater work.
