Running an Airbnb sounds glamorous until you realize you’ve spent 45 minutes debating whether a throw pillow should be beige, off-beige, or “sand dune whisper.” That was pretty much the beginning of our renovation journey.
When we first started renovating our condo units, the vision was simple: create a space that feels like a hotel, but still warm enough that guests won’t be afraid to sit on the sofa. Easier said than done.
Every renovation started with excitement and ended with someone saying, “Sir, may additional po.” Suddenly, a simple repainting project becomes a full emotional experience. One minute you’re choosing lighting fixtures, the next minute you’re researching the difference between warm white, cool white, and “why does this bulb make the room look haunted?”
But despite the chaos, there’s something satisfying about transforming an empty or outdated unit into a space people genuinely enjoy. We learned that good design is not about making a place look expensive — it’s about making people feel comfortable the moment they walk in.
We leaned toward clean, modern interiors with cozy touches. Neutral colors, functional furniture, soft lighting, and layouts that make small condo spaces feel bigger than they actually are. Every corner had to work hard because condo living is basically a daily game of “Where can we put storage without making it obvious?”
Of course, renovation life also teaches patience. There were delays, unexpected repairs, furniture that looked bigger online, and moments when we questioned why we started in the first place. But seeing guests appreciate the effort makes everything worth it.
One guest once described the unit as “Pinterest in real life,” and honestly, that felt better than getting a perfect inspection score.
What makes this journey fun is that every unit develops its own personality. Some spaces feel calm and minimalist, others feel cozy and playful. And every renovation teaches us something new — usually the expensive way.
At the end of the day, we’re not just renovating condo units. We’re creating spaces where travelers can rest, families can reconnect, and people can enjoy a small escape from everyday life.
