Incumbent Dasmariñas City Mayor Jenny Austria-Barzaga is being considered as a possible candidate for the vacant congressional seat of Cavite’s 4th District in the special election scheduled on August 29, 2026.

The position became vacant following the expulsion of her son, former Congressman Kiko Barzaga, from the House of Representatives.

Before becoming mayor, Jenny Barzaga served as Representative of Cavite’s 4th District from 2016 to 2019. In 2019, she was elected Mayor of Dasmariñas City and has continued to hold the position after winning subsequent elections.

Should Mayor Barzaga decide to run and win in the special election, incumbent Vice Mayor Thirdy Barzaga, her son, would assume the position of city mayor. Meanwhile, the city's first-ranked councilor would succeed to the vice mayoralty in accordance with existing succession rules.

As of this writing, Mayor Barzaga has yet to make an official announcement regarding a possible congressional bid. However, her name continues to surface among the potential contenders for the vacant seat in the House of Representatives.

The special election on August 29, 2026 will determine the next representative of Cavite’s 4th District.
