Location: Antipolo, Rizal
The house is located on a west-facing, moderate sloping site in Antipolo. The client program wishes for the 200 sqm lot includes the front portion as their home office, powder room, a partial basement for laundry and general storage area, living, dining, kitchen with island counter, an optional lanai and three bedrooms with wic and bathrooms. The need for multiple flexible zones and spaces to allow for isolation and congregation was also a major consideration in the planning phase.
A gently rising path leads to the main door at the front of the house. Inside a high ceiling hallway divides individual zones with opportunities for separate access to the different spaces. Built-in furniture, storage and lighting simplify the interior décor and contribute to the overall aesthetic. Within this flowing space, windows are carefully placed to bring in light and provide optimal ventilation.
The upper floor of the house is lined with an array of vertical fins to protect its glass windows from the sun. These brise-soleil do not only help filter incoming light but also outgoing light at nighttime, creating a warm glow from the inside out.
