LOOK: SMC PRIORITIZES BULACAN AIRPORT COMPLETION — ANG CALLS IT A “GAME CHANGER” ✈️🇵🇭

San Miguel Corporation (SMC) is shifting its full focus to completing the P740-billion New Manila International Airport (NMIA) in Bulacan, now targeted for completion in 2028 after delays caused by supply chain issues.

🗣️ “Our main focus is to finish the Bulacan airport,” said SMC Chairman Ramon Ang at their stockholders’ meeting, adding that the airport is a “game changer” that can accelerate national development.

🌍 The massive infrastructure project, started in 2019, is seen as key to boosting tourism, which Ang says is needed to supplement growth beyond OFWs and BPO sectors.
📉 PH welcomed 5.95M tourists in 2023, falling short of its 7.7M target.

💼 Despite airport delays, SMC’s Q1 2025 earnings jumped nearly 5x to ₱43.4B, thanks to a $3.3B power deal. Even without it, core income surged 31% to ₱19B.

📉 Revenue dipped 8% to ₱360.9B due to lower crude prices impacting Petron Corp.

🛫 SMC also recently took over management of NAIA, with Ang noting that “our businesses are very stable.”

The depot has enough capacity to accommodate up to 150 train cars and will house facilities for the maintenance and operation of the trains.

MRT 7 is a 22-kilometer railway with 14 stations that will connect Metro Manila to the Province of Bulacan. According to DOTR, the partial operation of MRT-7 will begin on Q4 of 2025.
