is it weird that our guests don’t leave the house that much?

if youre in a soulful place like la union, everyone expects you to be outside. have coffee in el union, or try that bread from masa. but when guests shares their stories with the space, i understood why. some of them finished a book. some enjoyed cooking dinner. others had meaningful conversations. most of them, did nothing.

maybe you don’t have to be outside all the time.
you just need a place to rest.

when i was a kid, i used to save coins just to rent a bike for ten pesos an hour and spend weekends exploring our neighborhood. one of our guests shared that she felt the same riding to coffee shops, buying warm pandesal, finding the beach, and discovering corners of the neighborhood.

if you remember ate maricel, one of the bikes is hers, and the rental goes directly to her. it’s nice how something so simple can feel like freedom and help someone too. ☺️🤍

ate maricel witnessed the growth of this neighborhood.

during market days, we used to get produce from her latag until we offered to her to be part of our little home.

it's been four years, and she ‘s still preparing the space before you arrive, like a mother looking forward to her daughter coming back home. if you ever catch her sweeping outside in the morning, you might want to ask what this neighborhood looks like when they were kids.

maybe that’s why this place feels like home. because people like ate maricel have cared for it long before us.
