Retirement:
I had been lately watching videos in regards to Retirement Visas or Golden Visas offered by exotic countries in the Carribean and Islands in the Pacific including some EU countries like Portugal and Spain.
My Question is....to myself....why will I retire in a foreign country wherein I do not have any acquaintances of friends in that country?
Another question....why retire? Are you tired of working? Are you fed up in the city or country where you live? If yes, then I think, it is okay to go ahead and retire in a different country.
For me, home is where my loved one lives. That will include my dogs, my friends, my family, etc. The only place I can think of is my own country Philippines.
Of course if there is a war or civil war, then that is another topic. If everything is normal....I will not migrate. I am happy to where I am right now. Isn't happiness will be the basis of where you will retire?
I could have migrated way way back when I was young. All my families migrated to Australia and the United States. But I chose not to. I experimented with the United States and tried to blend in with the culture. I adjusted and lived like them....accent...clothes...culture...and career...including love life.
But one day....while working at the tallest building in Los Angeles...doing overtime as a Paralegal....I was left alone in the office and looked far to the city of Los Angeles, with its glaring lights all the way to the beach.
I asked myself frankly.....yes...talking alone....If I was happy with my life....and being true to myself...my answer was a big NO. I was always adjusting to their lifestyle, career, etc. And I told myself, I will be much happier being poor and spending my life drinking in a sari sari store....even in the provinces (Iloilo).
I had been to many countries, and I always compare the Philippines with those countries I had been. I don't know if I'm biased, because I'm a filipino....but frankly....the Philippines has its charm which you cannot explain. You can live anywhere in the Philippines and the hospitality of people will greet you and they would even treat you like family, even if you are a total stranger.
This is probably why I'm still not rich up to now, because my happiness is not based on money and materialistic things....but rather enjoying life as a whole and enjoying things in life that are free!
I guess it boils down as well with Contentment and being at peace within yourself. And being at peace means good relationship with God, Nature, and your loved ones.
I am old...and my years are counted. My face and body might fall and weaken in the next 10 years. And I am now panicking and rushing...to experience peace and contentment within myself. I want to spend my last years of my life....enjoying life, with or without money. Yes you can enjoy life...even if you are poor. Just looking at the sea and watching sunset in Manila Bay....is pure happiness.
Going back to retirement. My biggest question is...why spend the final years, wherein you will look ugly, weak, and insecure....spending it country wherein nobody knows you? If ever, your only bargaining power is your money which is limited, since you are just depending on your monthly pension which isn't that much, even if you are from the United States of any European country.
What I also don't get....is why this older men....are buying s*x with younger generation, like 3 or 4 decades younger than them, when they even have an er****on problem? How can they perform in bed, when you are diabetic or insulin resistant and not even producing enough testosterone in men.
For me....retirement is spending your last hours with your loved ones, or doing your passion in life or contributing something to the environment or society. And not rushing or panicking things you were deprived of....when you were young. You do this....if you are in your 30's to 50's.....when you still look good...and enough testosterone ....and the ability to make money to buy things you were deprived of. If for some reasons....you did not meet the requirement....then just settle and accept. Not everybody on Earth....will have the same privileges.
With me...I still have dreams that I have not met. Being a composer....writing a musical play....producing a critically acclaimed film....and finishing my books. It is mostly about arts and nothing to do with money.
LIfe is simple. It is us who makes Life Complicated. We are born and we will die. It is that simple. And the time in between is called LIFE. Lets make it great....because it is very limited. Be happy and contented ALL THE TIME...plus learn to accept people for who they are and learn to FORGIVE. If you have more asset of knowledge and intelligence....then it is your duty to understand people lesser than you.
Need to go...for my gym and dinner later sa Casino....I think...I am more organize in writing than vlogging. Nag kakalat ako pag nag kwento ako.
That it!!!
