"Ayala is a very special place," says President & CEO B**g Consing

MANILA – Cezar "B**g" Consing assured Ayala Corporation employees during a townhall that he is ready to assume the role of President & CEO, as Fernando Zobel de Ayala takes a temporary medical leave to prioritize his health.

"As announced, B**g Consing will be President & CEO while FZA is on a temporary medical leave. We all know B**g; with his experience and background, he is perfectly situated to assume this role," said Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, Chairman of Ayala Corporation, during the townhall.

Consing has over 30 years of successful experience in international finance. Upon graduating magna cm laude with a degree in economics from De La Salle University in 1979 and obtaining a master's degree in applied economics from the University of Michigan in 1980, he joined BPI as a management trainee and eventually became the youngest Assistant Vice President in the bank's history.

Consing worked with J.P. Morgan & Co. in Hong Kong and Singapore from 1985 to 2004 and headed the firm’s investment banking business in Asia Pacific from 1997 to 2004. He became a Partner at the Rohatyn Group from 2004 to 2013 and headed its Hong Kong office and its private investing business in Asia and was a board director of its real estate and energy and infrastructure private equity investing subsidiaries.

In 2013, after having a successful career overseas, Consing returned to the Philippines when he was appointed as BPI President & CEO and an Ayala Corporation Senior Managing Director. "It was the one job I would come home for," he said.

"I think, for Filipino bankers, this is the best banking job in the country. And if you’re thinking of retiring as a banker, you might as well end it running what I think is the best bank in the country. It’s the ideal way to retire," he said during a 2021 interview.

After his retirement from BPI, Consing continued his engagement with Ayala as a board director of Ayala Corporation and its business units BPI, Globe Telecom, and ACEN. He was elected by Ayala Corporation's Board of Director as President & CEO last August 14. According to Consing, rejoining Ayala was an easy decision to make, even if it meant spending less time at the golf course. After all, for him, "Ayala is a very special place."

"When I say that Ayala is a very special place, I say that not because I know Ayala, but because I've worked with many large groups in Asia. Ayala is different. It is truly unique. And that's why I'm here," he said.

Since the very first time i set my foot at Ayala Greenfield Estates back in 2014 I always taught of it as a very serene and the most ellegant village I had been. I can imagine myslef having a retirement life in such a suburb of a neighborhood. As with some great views of mt. Makiling and the Laguna lake with some cold breeze coming from Tagaytay. Who wouldn't want to build another nest in here.

In my experience with all of my clients who trusted me since 2014 all of there Ayala Land Premier properties that had been turned over to them had gained 120% at least of price appreciation value for a residential condominium in a span of 4 to 5 years. That is why we have a lot of repeat and multiple/bulk buyers.

It is something you won't get over time deposit in a bank or even in some big business because you need to have your ROI before you actually start earning from it.
