Billions on the line, and a new gateway rising in Bulacan.

SMC MAKES BULACAN MEGA AIRPORT TOP PRIORITY — READY BY 2028!

San Miguel Corporation (SMC) is fast-tracking the ₱740-billion New Manila International Airport (NMIA) in Bulacan, now declared its top priority project. Despite supply chain delays, SMC targets completion by 2028.

Chairman Ramon Ang described the project as a “game changer” that will power growth in tourism and diversify the economy beyond OFWs and BPOs.

Construction began in 2019, and the NMIA push comes alongside SMC’s takeover of NAIA.

SMC also reported strong Q1 2025 results: ₱43.4B earnings from a $3.3B power deal, a 31% jump in core income to ₱19B, and stable operations despite an 8% revenue dip at Petron.

Billions on the line, two airports in the spotlight.

SMC TO RAISE ₱30B FOR NAIA UPGRADE & BULACAN AIRPORT PUSH

San Miguel Corporation (SMC) is set to generate ₱30 billion through a preferred share sale this October 13–17 to bankroll its flagship infrastructure ventures—rehabilitating NAIA and completing the ₱740-billion New Manila International Airport (NMIA) in Bulacan.

SMC, which assumed control of NAIA under a ₱170.6-billion deal, pledged to deliver major upgrades in airport operations. Meanwhile, Chairman Ramon Ang confirmed the Bulacan mega-airport remains on track for a 2028 completion, despite cost increases from supply chain delays.

The proceeds will also cover debt refinancing. For context, SMC’s earnings in the first half of 2025 surged nearly fivefold to ₱66.8 billion, boosted by one-time gains from asset deconsolidation.
