BATAAN-CAVITE BRIDGE WORK SET TO BEGIN
Civil works for the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB) are scheduled to begin in July, starting with the construction of land-based approaches. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is finalizing bids for two contract packages: CP 1, which covers 6.89 kilometers of land approach on the Bataan side, and CP 2, which involves 1.3 kilometers on the Cavite side.
Once land-based works are underway, the DPWH will begin procuring contractors for the main structural components under CPs 3 to 6. These include the northern marine viaduct and approach spans (CPs 3 and 5), the southern marine viaduct (CP 4), and the navigational channel bridge near Cavite (CP 6).
The 32.15-kilometer bridge will span Manila Bay, linking Mariveles in Bataan to Naic in Cavite. It is expected to reduce travel time between the two provinces from 5.5 hours to just 45 minutesโsignificantly enhancing mobility, logistics, and regional connectivity.
In addition to improving travel time, the bridge is projected to spur economic growth in both provinces. It will enhance Caviteโs access to Central Luzonโs industrial zones and seaports, boosting development in manufacturing, logistics, and tourismโcreating jobs and easing pressure on Metro Manilaโs transport corridors.
