The Thirteen (13) Martyrs of Cavite.
The Trece Martires (Thirteen Martyrs) of Cavite. Also a name of a city in Cavite, the inspiration behind the name was the thirteen people implicated by the Spanish authorities in the Philippine Revolution of 1896 and executed on this day, 125 years ago (two weeks after the outbreak of the revolution) by firing squad at Fort San Felipe Neri in Cavite Puerto (Cavite City today). They were not just ordinary people but a businessman such as Maximo Inocencio, entrepreneurs like Eugenio Cabezas (jewelrer), Antonio San Agustin (bookstore owner) and Victoriano Luciano (beauty and pharmaceutical products), military men like Luis Aguado, Severino Lapidario and Maximo Gregorio, professionals like physician Dr. Hugo Perez and medical practitioner Feliciano Cabuco, pharmacist Francisco Osorio, educator Agapito Conchu, public servant Alfonso de Ocampo, and tailor Jose Lallana.
Let's remember them and the rest of those who gave up their lives just for us to have something to call home in this world--the Philippines.
