Kawawa naman ang driver, nakulong at kahit pinalabas rin pgktapos nang ilang araw, na trauma na sya, biro mo nabagsakan k nang tao tpos nagiba pa kotse mo! ðŸ˜
The family of the victim didn’t pursue the charges, which is very good and decent of them. Especially considering what they must be going through right now. Our thoughts and prayers are with them all.
But as gracious as the family have been, this doesn’t solve the bigger problem. The ones you don’t hear of.
This case got attention. It went viral. People were watching. And because people were watching, it moved. That’s how it works now —you need noise before you get action.
But what about the drivers who don’t get that kind of visibility? The ones sitting in detention for weeks or months over cases just like this — except nobody posted a video, nobody shared it, and nobody cared enough to make noise?
I’ve met too many of them. Especially in the provinces, where innocent people spend days, weeks, months or even years behind bars simply because they didn’t have the resources, the connections, or the platform to fight back.
This isn’t just about one driver. I’m very relieved he was spared any more unnecessary punishment. This is about a system that only works when someone is watching.
And that’s exactly why this kind of advocacy matters. Not for the high-profile cases. But for the ones nobody hears about.
WE NEED TO FIX THIS.
