The one-day Khov-Festival concluded with a remarkable display of grandeur and vibrancy. Organized by the Zaini Sports Club, the festival aimed to promote tourism and sports, offering an avenue for youth engagement in healthy and productive activities. The event was held under the auspices of the District Administration Upper Chitral, in collaboration with the District Sports Office, the District Youth Office, and the Young Leader Parliament of Upper Chitral.
A variety of cultural and athletic activities were featured such as : tug of war, Shapir keli, Boik Dik, Budi Dik, Paragliding, and race that were designed to assess the participants' physical strength, agility, speed, and skills.
Various stakeholders from Upper Chitral actively participated in the event, commending the initiative and its underlying objectives. The Deputy Commissioner of Upper Chitral, Mr. Hasib ur Rehman Khan Khalil, graced the occasion as the chief guest and emphasized the importance of establishing platforms that promote local culture and traditional games. In his address, he highlighted the need for sustained efforts in preserving cultural heritage and announced that the Zaini Pass Club would serve as the Calendar unit for organizing such activities in the future.
The festival’s purpose extended beyond the mere promotion of Khov-culture. It also sought to engage the youth in constructive pursuits, particularly in fostering tourism and providing opportunities for meaningful involvement.
In today's event, for the first time in Chitral’s history, a 10km marathon captivated the audience’s attention. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of towering peaks at an altitude of 12,800 feet and a 2km stretch of ice, the race presented both a unique challenge and an unforgettable experience for the athletes. This inaugural marathon concluded with a display of fairness and transparency, with the first place secured by Rehmat Hakim,
second by Athar Jinali, and third by Waqar Jinali.
