In a groundbreaking development, over 490 people trapped in flood-hit areas have been rescued and safely relocated using advanced thermal technology. This high-tech operation was carried out in Okara, Jhang, Athara Hazari, Shorkot, and Ahmed Pur Sial, where the use of thermal imaging made night-time rescues possible for the first time in Pakistan.
In Jhang City Bund, 21 individuals were saved, one from Pindi Mohalla, 12 from Khuldra, 63 from Dadu Andran, 70 from Ali Pur, 85 from Thattha Jabanran, 4 from Masan, and 10 from Wajidabad Shah Jeewna. Similarly, 20 from Wajhlanran, 4 from Chak Noon, 80 from Jogira Buchiran, 30 from Khuroda Bakr, 20 from Dubb Kalan in Shorkot, 4 from Darbar Abdul Razzaq, and 45 from Wali Muhammad Jhandir in Ahmed Pur Sial were also rescued using this innovative technology.
For the first time in Pakistan’s history, thermal technology was successfully deployed to detect human presence in areas invisible to the naked eye, making it possible to save lives even in complete darkness. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif praised the entire rescue team for this remarkable achievement, calling it a revolutionary step in modern disaster response.
This successful operation marks a turning point, proving that thermal technology can significantly enhance the efficiency and safety of rescue missions during natural disasters. Maryam Nawaz Sharif has become the first Chief Minister to introduce this cutting-edge approach in Punjab, setting a new standard for emergency operations.
