Today was hearing of Affectees Vs NAB in Lahore high court. There are two cases filed in the court from two groups of Affectees, one is from United Group and other is from rest of the group namely Rameez Group, Shamshad group and Umar group operating under different names namely, Khuda Bakhsh Group, Awaz Group etc. The serial number of the case from Awaz group was 5 while from United group's case number was 6.
The number of writ petitioners from United Group are around 25 while number of writ petitioners from Other group is around 700.
United Group was represented by Rizwan Saeed while Awaz other cluster of group was represented by Khalid Zubair.
The pray, Khalid Zubair went to court with was to demand stay on NAB's Plea Bargain. According to the law NAB's PB can't be challenged. Judge asked Khalid Zubair if PB was done with consent of Affectees, to which Khalid Zubair said yes. Then Judge dismissed their case immediately.
Next case was United group's. United group had written letters to NAB before going to the court that they don't accept NAB's PB to which NAB sent letters to those individuals to their homes by post mentioning that they are offering 123% of the original value in 3 years. United's lawyer told the judge that they don't want stay against PB but they want to know how NAB has decided this value? Judge asked NAB's lawyer. NAB's lawyer replied that NAB has not mentioned anything in this regard. Judge told NAB's lawyer that the letters have been issued by NAB with signatures, how can you deny it? Then Judge said that they are accepting United Group's Petition and gave next hearing date of 15 Aug. Court was dismissed after that.
After that Khalid Zubair team approached court and requested them that, since, it has been revealed that NAB wants to pay 123% of the original value paid by the Affectees, so this applies to all the Affectees including those represented by Khalid Zubair and for the good of public, court should not dismiss their case but should hear them also together with the other group. Reportedly court has accepted their request and it is being told that they have also been given next hearing date of 15 Aug. But this not confirmed yet.
