Contemporary Classical Residence | DHA Phase 7, Lahore

The idea behind this residential elevation was to bring classical elegance and modern architecture together without making the design overly decorative.

For this DHA Phase 7 residence, our architectural team developed a façade with carefully balanced proportions, warm stone-toned finishes, tall black-framed windows and a prominent recessed entrance.

The classical cornices and vertical façade detailing give the building a timeless character, while the large glazed openings introduce a more contemporary architectural expression.

Special attention was also given to the side elevation, where a decorative feature panel, symmetrical glazed openings and coordinated façade materials help maintain consistency throughout the exterior.

The balcony, landscaped edges and warm architectural lighting complete the overall composition.

Why is house construction sometimes more expensive in DHA Lahore?

Two houses with similar covered areas and specifications can have different construction costs depending on where they are being built.

Have you ever noticed paint on the ends of steel bars used in construction?

Most people assume these colours are simply used to identify the steel brand or grade, such as Grade 40 or Grade 60.

But there is another interesting technical point worth understanding.

When a steel bar is cut, the freshly exposed surface can be vulnerable to rust if it comes into contact with moisture. Paint on the end may provide some protection to that particular surface.

However, the coloured markings are primarily used for identification, and the colour alone should never be considered proof of the steel grade.

In this short video, I’ve explained why steel bar ends are painted, how these markings are used and what we should understand about rusting and steel reinforcement.

These are small details, but understanding construction materials properly is important for both engineers and homeowners.

Planning to increase the covered area of your house in DHA Lahore?

Under the applicable DHA Lahore building regulations, a 1 Kanal house may have up to 200 sq ft of excess covered area, subject to the relevant conditions, charges and approval.

But paying the additional charges is not the complete process.

One important requirement that homeowners often miss is the submission of revised architectural drawings.

If the construction differs from the originally approved building plan, those changes must be reflected in revised drawings and submitted for the necessary approval.

Can a final construction quotation be prepared without drawings?

An estimated budget can be discussed, but a proper final quotation should be based on complete project drawings.

Architectural, structural and foundation drawings define the actual scope of work, including concrete, reinforcement steel, foundations, openings, doors, windows and other construction quantities.

Without these details, any final price is based on assumptions rather than the actual project scope.

This is also why drawings are important before signing a construction contract. The drawings help both the client and contractor understand exactly what is included in the work.
