LAHORE: Punjab governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has signed the Stamp Duty Amendment Ordinance 2026, bringing major relief for property buyers in rural areas, officials said on Friday.
According to the ordinance, stamp duty rates have been made uniform across urban and rural areas and fixed at 1 percent.
Earlier, the rate was 1 percent in urban areas and 3 percent in rural areas.
Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said the move aims to simplify regulations and promote investment in the property sector, especially for overseas Pakistanis.
He said the decision is expected to boost property transactions in rural areas and improve market activity.
