Less is more. One tool, so many possibilities.
When creating a map in 3Dsurvey, the heightmap view proves to be much more useful than we expected. Working with LiDAR/TLS data, we can see objects in their exact shape and size. In some situations, photogrammetry does not work as well as laser scanning, for example in wooded areas.
Even the simplest point cloud classification with ground layer data is enough. Once you select the heightmap view, it is easier to see the shapes of roads and paths. By setting a narrower height range and also changing the colour scheme, you can recognise paths more clearly. Small differences in the terrain are more visible, and that is crucial.
Of course, we sometimes need to adjust the range due to differences in terrain elevation.
This is a minor but very useful feature of the 3Dsurvey software.
