If you grew up in Hinton, you know this light.

Late October — the maples turn red, the oaks go orange, and our three ginkgos on Fifth drop gold all at once. For about 10 days, the whole yard is a carpet.

This photo is Sandstone Falls, 8 miles from Ginkgo House. The Falls are surrounded by fall color. Locals know it's the best week to go — fewer people, more color.

Where to see fall colors near Hinton? River Road to Sandstone Falls, then back to Fifth for coffee on the porch.

Step into a piece of West Virginia history.

The Riverside Ginkgo House is a beautifully restored 1911 home between the New & Greenbrier Rivers in Hinton, WV.

Three mature ginkgos — one 8ft wide. In October, they drop a golden carpet that lasts just 10 days a year.

It was Mrs. Rudge's house. She taught English at Hinton High across the street from 1980-1999.

We didn't transform it. We uncovered it.
Preserved: original millwork, beadboard, fireplaces.
Updated: renovated bathrooms, 1950s-inspired kitchen, Starlink Wi-Fi, dedicated workspace, fenced backyard.

We have 2 spots in the New River Gorge - same area, two totally different ways to live fall.

On top of town. That fall light over downtown Hinton and the New River? Unreal from up here. Walk to coffee, dinner, and all the Hinton fall buzz. Your in-town leaf-peeping basecamp.
