Just a short drive from Monte da Azinheira, you’ll find one of the most extraordinary sacred places in Portugal: the ancient standing stones (menhirs) of Monsaraz. These impressive stones have stood here for more than 6,000 years and are believed to have been used for ceremonies, to honour nature, and to follow the movements of the sun and stars.

Standing beside these ancient stones, you can feel the silence, the vastness, and the grounding energy of the Alentejo landscape. It is a place where your breath naturally slows, your mind becomes quiet, and you reconnect with yourself.

During my retreats, we visit these remarkable places—not as tourists, but with intention. We take time for a guided meditation or a gentle breathing practice, allowing the wisdom and stillness of this ancient landscape to be experienced from within.

Nature provides… and today it’s time to harvest.

Today I’m picking the first ripe figs at Monte da Azinheira. Every fig has ripened slowly under the warm Portuguese sun, just as nature intended.

This feels like true abundance. Not only because of the basket full of sweet figs, but because of this beautiful way of life. The peace, the open space, the scent of the olive trees, and living with the rhythm of the seasons.

This is exactly what I hope my guests experience during a stay or yoga retreat: slowing down, enjoying fresh local food, reconnecting with nature, and coming home to themselves.

Sometimes happiness is as simple as a freshly picked fig.

There’s something magical about watching the garden come alive.

My vegetable garden is thriving growing, blooming, and bursting with life. The melon flowers are absolutely breathtaking, delicate little stars promising sweet fruits to come.

With these high summer temperatures, everything needs plenty of water to stay strong and healthy. That’s why I feel incredibly grateful to have our own borehole, giving us the water we need to keep everything flourishing.

Nature keeps reminding us that with care, patience, and the right conditions, beautiful things grow.

Sometimes beauty is found in the little things

With great pleasure, I’ve placed a beautiful cabinet outside against the wall and decorated it with authentic Portuguese plates and jugs. Each piece carries its own story, full of character and history, reflecting the warm and pure spirit of Portugal. 🤍

I love how these small details can instantly bring more life, charm, and coziness to a place. It feels like having a little piece of Portugal right here and it’s something I’m happy to share with you.

Dat hangmatje roept je bijna, toch?
Even helemaal niets. Alleen het zachte schommelen in de schaduw, een warm briesje, het geluid van vogels en het uitzicht over het land. Zie jij jezelf hier al liggen, met een boek, een glas wijn of gewoon genietend van de stilte? Hier is ontspannen geen keuze, maar vanzelfsprekend.

Rondom de quinta vind je op elk moment van de dag jouw perfecte plekje.
Met terrassen aan alle kanten kun je altijd kiezen: genieten van de warme zon of juist de verkoelende schaduw opzoeken. Van de eerste ochtendstralen tot de zachte avondzon. Hier is er altijd een plek om te ontspannen, te lezen, te eten of gewoon even helemaal niets te doen. Zo voelt buitenleven op z’n best.
