Part 17 of our series Best Places to Eat in Madeira. This time, we visited .pt , a pastry shop created by Madeiran pastry chef Joana Gonçalves.

After beginning her career in architecture, Joana moved into pastry and trained with renowned chefs and Michelin-starred restaurants in Portugal and abroad.

In 2022, she opened CHOUX, creating a pastry collection inspired by regional fruit and the flavours of Madeira. Each creation highlights local ingredients through classic French pastry techniques and contemporary presentation.

From initial excavation to infrastructure layout: tracking the evolution of Vista Paraíso Funchal from how it started to how it’s going.

How It Started: Initial site preparation involving heavy earthworks, mass excavation, and structural concrete retaining wall installation to stabilize the hillside terrain.

How It’s Going: Advanced site development focusing on access road formation, comprehensive sub-surface drainage networks, and technical utility trenching.

What Is Planned: The final realization of five detached villas featuring engineered structural layouts, private pools, and elevated Atlantic sea views.

Major progress has been made on the infrastructure works at Vista Paraíso.

The wastewater, pumping and stormwater systems are now well advanced, with new pipelines, inspection chambers and drainage connections installed. Foundation works for the curbs and road structure have also been completed, and the first asphalt layers will be applied shortly.

These works mark another important milestone as the project continues to progress towards completion.

The development will comprise five detached villas, each with sea views and a private pool.
