🇿🇦 HAPPY HERITAGE DAY, SOUTH AFRICA! 🇿🇦
Today we look back at the country that shaped us, the heritage that runs through our veins, and the beautiful, colourful nation we will always be proud to call home. ❤️💙💚💛🖤
South Africa is more than just a place on a map. It’s a feeling. It’s pride, rugby, diversity, culture, resilience, ubuntu, laughter, and a sense of belonging that is hard to put into words. It’s a country filled with so many different people, languages, traditions and cultures — all woven together to create something uniquely South African. 🇿🇦
When we think of South Africa, we think of Table Mountain ⛰️, a lekker braai 🔥, brandy and Coke 🥃, an ice-cold Cream Soda 🥤, Flings, Ouma rusks dunked into a cup of Rooibos tea ☕, biltong, droëwors, koeksisters, milk tart, boerewors, mielies, chakalaka, pap and sous, Nik Naks, Simba chips, Mrs Balls chutney, Sunday lunches, rugby Saturdays, the smell of rain on the Highveld, the sound of a vuvuzela, and the unmistakable words “lekker” and “howzit!” 🇿🇦
We think of sunsets over the bushveld, the sound of the ocean, dusty farm roads, family gathered around a fire, music playing in the background, and the kind of memories that stay with you no matter how far away you travel.
Although we have left South Africa and built a life elsewhere, you can take a South African out of South Africa, but you can never take South Africa out of a South African. 🇿🇦
There will always be a little piece of home in us. In the food we crave, the words we use, the stories we tell, the traditions we carry forward, and the way we celebrate being together.
There truly is no place like home. ❤️
Today, we celebrate where we come from. We celebrate the people, the cultures, the traditions, the memories and the heritage that make us who we are.
