We're finally starting to catch up with all the tasks at QJS, following the storms in January.

Thanks to some kind help, we have made good progress with cutting and moving all the fallen trees and have started cobbing our garden shelter again! The skylight and rubber are on the roof... can you guess what the roof will be?

We're still getting used to the view without the beautiful huge pine tree, but the tent for our helpers this week still nestles in a bit of shade.

We've been so grateful for those who have contacted us about exchanging a few hours help for a stay of a week or two! Thanks guys, theres a lot still to do, but it's really starting to get us back on track!

Volunteer (s) needed

Hello everyone. Seeking volunteer hands to help finish clearing our garden ready for the summer.

Dates 6 to 17 July 2.5 hours per day.

My husband does the work with the chainsaw and strimmer, we would really appreciate some help moving all the pieces and trimming small branches / bushes!

For this period, we can offer full accommodation in our beautiful one bedroom Rosa Mini Apartment (sleeps 2) and one healthy meal per day, in return for 2.5 hours help early each morning before it gets too hot 🔥

We're also building a mud house! Learn how if you like!

It's not been a very productive year in the garden so far... but these little peaches are warming the cockles of our hearts and reminding us that life is good!

What the javali started, the storms finished, so it's lovely to taste a little sweetness between cutting next year's firewood.

We've joined Common Move, a place where genuine exchange can be explored.

We're seeking some helping hands (part time) to clear the land following the storms in January, help us put up fences to keep out the wild boar and to learn how to build a mud (cob) house...

In return, we offer space (tent, camper or our tent), food, reduced rent if you stay in our accommodation, our knowledge and experience and local contacts.

What does deep cleaning mean to you?

Here at QJS, we take our guest changeovers seriously! Because we have longer term guests and their lovely pets here, we deep clean between guests as often as we can.

And yes, we have stripped the bed dpwn to the springs; that's the mattress cover and pillows soaking up the warm sun and cooling breeze off the mountains!

Our last vacancies for summer 2026 are in our Eco-Annexe Figieira, currdntly available from 18 June to 14 August.

Experience life on our working 'farm' in the wine-making countryside - yet be in easy reach of beautiful Coimbra and many fantastic river beaches (essential for keeping cool!).

We particularly welcome guests exploring the area with a view to move here, those who appreciate permaculture, home education and learning by doing.

Rares are 500 per calendar month, inclusive. Minimum stay 14 nights for 265.
