The rain stopped during the weekend, news reached me from afar, the computer overheated and spent some time in the fridge, I went to look for my old computer in the garage, got distracted by a branch that snapped in the storm, stumbled and fell on my face. A chat with a friend kept fizzing in my head. I carried some logs into the house but forgot to light the fire. Made a stew with dumplings. The dumplings were terrible. Fished them out… Katy posted the loveliest reel about Mara. I wept. Watched it again. Wept. Watched. Wept.

All that, to say: I did no work. Zero. Nil.

To say: there will be days like these.

And to say, to myself and any writer who hasn’t done it yet: build a place - inside your head, if not an actual bunker - where you can work no matter what is happening around. When I figure out how it’s done, I’ll tell you that, too.

New Year, new path… I have changed the name of my page to reflect it. This year I shall focus on editing and writing. Casa Luna is not open to tourists any longer, but I hope to work with writers, academics, artists and music creators at Casa Luna, in Scotland, or online. Sweet Mara in her Herb Bed at Casa Luna. You don’t see it - because she is more dignified than a duchess - but she’s in great pain. Day and night, it drains her energy and joy. Not everything is perfect or smooth, at Casa Luna. Long list of things to do, and no matter how many I strike off, it gets no shorter. Plumber, electrician, tree surgeon, TV man. Tax, vet, lawyer, bank. Builder, wasp person, MOT, gas. I called five people yesterday: none answered. Professionals are hard to find - this is what everyone tells me, all the time.

Not sure what to do. I catch sight of the phone and get heartburn.
