S. Tiago Property was built in 1898 by the ancestors of the Hall Themido family. The Hall Themido family includes several illustrious people who have stood out in Portuguese society.
One of these people is João Hall Themido from Vila Pouca da Beira and was Portuguese ambassador to the US between 1971 and 1981. João Hall Themido was one of the rare ambassadors who ensured the transition between Portugal under dictatorship and democratic Portugal and was a frequent guest from the State Department and the White House itself, with Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford, at a time when the United States distrusted the Portuguese revolution and a possible takeover by the communists. In Portugal, he was directly involved with characters such as Salazar and Amália Rodrigues.
He wrote 3 books, having reached the highest point of his diplomatic career, he left with a halo of prestige and respect that earned him several decorations such as the Order of Infante Henrique. -------------------------------------------------------
