Surfová sezóna je v plnom prúde 🌊☀️

Ak ste v Portugalsku alebo sa sem chystáte, určite odporúčam skúsiť surfovanie. Najbližšie k bytu je škola Surfer’s Place – na pláži Praia do Pedrogão a Praia da Vieira.

Piatok a víkendové lekcie už bežia – tak neváhaj a poď do vody! 🤙

If you’re in Portugal or planning to come, I definitely recommend giving surfing a try. The closest school to the apartment is Surfer’s Place – Surf & Stand Up Paddle School at Praia do Pedrogão and Praia da Vieira.

Friday and weekend lessons are already running – so don’t hesitate and jump into the water! 🤙

🍰 Dezerty a sladkosti, ktoré musíš ochutnať v okolí Praia de Vieira

Ak máš rád sladké, v tejto oblasti si prídeš na svoje. V miestnych kaviarňach a pekárňach nájdeš tieto obľúbené portugalské dobroty:

• Pastéis de Nata
Klasické portugalské tartaletky s krémom. Najlepšie chutia teplé, posypané škoricou.

• Bola de Berlim
Tradičná plážová šiška plnená sladkým žĺtkovým krémom. V lete ju často predávajú priamo na pláži.

• Arroz Doce
Portugalská ryžová kaša so škoricou. Jednoduchá, jemná a veľmi chutná.

• Pudim Flan
Karamelový puding podobný crème caramel. Ľahký dezert po dobrom obede.

• Queijadas
Malé koláčiky z mlieka alebo syra, jemne žuvacie a veľmi dobré ku káve.

• Tarte de Amêndoa
Mandľový koláč s chrumkavou vrstvou. Nie príliš sladký, ale veľmi návykový.

• Salame de Chocolate
„Čokoládová saláma“ z maslových sušienok a čokolády.

Väčšina kaviarní v Praia de Vieira a vo Vieira de Leiria ich pripravuje čerstvé každé ráno a ceny sú veľmi priateľské.
Ideálne na popoludňajšie kávičkové posedenie… alebo na raňajky. No judgement 🍮

If you have a sweet tooth, this area won’t disappoint. Here are a few local favourites you’ll find in cafés and pastelarias nearby:

• Pastéis de Nata
The classic custard tarts — crisp, creamy, and best enjoyed warm with cinnamon.

• Bola de Berlim
A beach-day tradition in Portugal. Soft doughnut filled with sweet egg cream. You’ll often find vendors selling them right on the sand in summer.

• Arroz Doce
Comforting Portuguese rice pudding with cinnamon on top. Simple but delicious.

• Pudim Flan
A silky caramel flan — light, sweet, and perfect after a heavier meal.

• Queijadas
Small, slightly chewy sweet cakes made with cheese or milk. Great with coffee.

• Tarte de Amêndoa
Crunchy almond tart that’s not overly sweet but incredibly satisfying.

• Chocolate Salami (Salame de Chocolate)
No actual salami — just chocolate, biscuits, and nostalgia.

Pertencente ao concelho da Marinha Grande, a Praia da Vieira possui um extenso areal e é banhada por um mar gélido. Procurada pelos praticantes de surf.

Aj keď je Praia de Vieira pokojné miesto, v okolí je toho dosť, čo sa dá vidieť a zažiť:

🏰 Leiria – 20 minút autom
Historické centrum, hrad, pekné kaviarne, malé galérie, trhy a koncerty. Skvelé na výlet, keď chceš trochu kultúry a mestského života.

🌊 Nazaré – 35 minút
Legendárne miesto s najväčšími vlnami na svete. Dá sa pozorovať z útesu Sitio, prejsť sa po promenáde alebo si dať ryby s výhľadom na more.

⛪ Alcobaça – 45 minút
Krásny kláštor zapísaný v UNESCO a malé uličky s tradičnými reštauráciami a vinárňami.

🌿 São Pedro de Moel – 25 minút
Malé pobrežné mestečko obklopené borovicovými lesmi, ideálne na prechádzky, bicykel alebo pokojný obed s výhľadom na oceán.

🏄‍♀️ Marinha Grande – 15 minút
Mesto skla – zaujímavé múzeum skla, trhy a lokálny život mimo turistických miest.

A samozrejme – ak nič z toho, stále ostáva možnosť dať si pastel de nata a ísť len tak pozorovať more ☕🍮 alebo vziať surf a ísť makať.

Even though Praia de Vieira is a peaceful place, there’s plenty to see and do in the area:

🏰 Leiria – 20 minutes by car
Historic center, castle, lovely cafés, small galleries, markets, and concerts. Perfect for a day trip when you’re craving a bit of culture and city life.

🌊 Nazaré – 35 minutes
The legendary spot with the biggest waves in the world. You can watch them from the Sitio cliff, stroll along the promenade, or enjoy fresh fish with a sea view.

⛪ Alcobaça – 45 minutes
A beautiful UNESCO-listed monastery, surrounded by charming narrow streets, traditional restaurants, and wine bars.

🌿 São Pedro de Moel – 25 minutes
A small coastal town surrounded by pine forests — ideal for walks, cycling, or a peaceful lunch overlooking the ocean.

🏄‍♀️ Marinha Grande – 15 minutes
Known as the glass town — visit the glass museum, browse the local markets, and experience authentic everyday life away from the tourist crowds.

And of course — if you don’t feel like doing any of that, you can always grab a pastel de nata and just watch the sea ☕🍮 or grab a surfboard and catch some waves. 🌊

Praia de Vieira je malé rybárske mestečko na atlantickom pobreží, asi 25 minút pri mesta Leiria.
Má širokú piesočnú pláž kam len dovidíš, promenádu, trh s čerstvými rybami a pokojný rytmus 🌊

🎣 Tradičný život pri mori:
Vieira si zachovala svoju rybársku dušu. Stále tu uvidíš starý spôsob lovu rýb – arte xávega – keď rybári ťahajú siete z mora priamo na pláž s pomocou traktorov alebo kedysi volov. Je to nádherný kúsok portugalskej tradície, ktorý sa zachoval len na pár miestach v krajine.

🎭 Kultúra a výlety v okolí:
Len pár kilometrov odtiaľto je mesto Leiria – s hradom, starým mestom, kaviarňami a živou kultúrnou scénou (koncerty, festivaly, múzeá, trhy).
Na výlet sa dá vyraziť aj do Nazaré, známej svojimi obrovskými vlnami a úžasným výhľadom, alebo do Alcobaçy s kláštorom zapísaným v UNESCO.

🍷 Čo tu robiť:
• ranné prechádzky po pláži
• kúpanie, beh, bicyklovanie, výlety do borovicových lesov
• večer tapas, víno, hudba na promenáde

🍽 Čo ochutnať:
Čerstvé ryby rôznych druhov, arroz de marisco (rizoto s morskými plodmi), caldo verde (tradičnú polievku), a samozrejme pastel de nata ku káve ☕🍮

Praia de Vieira je miesto, kde sa domáci pristavujú a kecajú, more sa vlní, čajky chillujú a čas sa spomalí. Neviem ako vy ale ja toto potrebujem dávkovat často.

Praia de Vieira is a small fishing town on the Atlantic coast, about 25 minutes from the city of Leiria.
It has a wide sandy beach that stretches as far as you can see, a seaside promenade, a fresh fish market, and an easy-going rhythm of life. 🌊

🎣 Traditional life by the sea:
Vieira has preserved its fishing soul. You can still witness the old fishing method called arte xávega — when fishermen pull their nets straight from the sea onto the beach, nowadays with the help of tractors (in the past with oxen). It’s a beautiful piece of Portuguese tradition that has survived in only a few places in the country.

🎭 Culture and nearby trips:
Just a few kilometers away lies Leiria – with its castle, old town, cozy cafés, and a lively cultural scene (concerts, festivals, museums, markets).
You can also take a trip to Nazaré, famous for its giant waves and stunning views, or to Alcobaça, home to a UNESCO-listed monastery.

🍷 Things to do:
• morning walks along the beach
• swimming, running, cycling, or exploring the pine forests
• evening tapas, wine, and live music on the promenade

🍽 What to taste:
Fresh local fish, arroz de marisco (seafood rice), caldo verde (traditional soup), and of course, a pastel de nata with your coffee ☕🍮

Praia de Vieira is a place where locals stop for a chat, the sea keeps rolling, seagulls chill, and time slows down.
I don’t know about you, but this is something I need to dose myself with regularly. 🌊

Vravela som si, že ešte budem robiť veľa rokov na to, aby som čosi splácala, potom sme šli v lete na dovolenku do Portugalska a odrazu som sa zaľúbila do tohto mestečka a mám byt! 🫣
Nazvala som si ho Casa Luma lebo je presvetlený a príjemný a s výhľadom na more a pláž.
Nachádza sa na polceste medzi Portom a Lisabonom, v mestečku Praia de Vieira. 🌊
Krátka cesta z letiska, pokoj, more, káva či víno na balkóne a šum vĺn. Prechádzky po pláži a ľudia, ktorí sa zdravia.

Hey friends! 🎉
I used to think I’d be working for many more years just to pay things off — and then we went on vacation to Portugal this summer, I fell in love with this little town… and suddenly, I have an apartment! 🫣

I called it Casa Luma because it’s bright, cozy, and has a view of the sea and the beach.
It’s located halfway between Porto and Lisbon, in a town called Praia de Vieira. 🌊

A short drive from the airport, peaceful surroundings, the ocean, coffee or wine on the balcony, and the sound of the waves. Beach walks and friendly people who greet you on the street.

If you ever come to Portugal, I’d be so happy if you stopped by for a visit!
