1. 📋 Purpose-built luxury resort — Vilamoura was created from scratch in the 1960s by Portuguese industrialist Arthur Cupertino de Miranda, who bought a 1,600-hectare estate called Quinta do Morgado de Quarteira. His vision: build Europe’s largest private tourist resort.

2. ⚓ Portugal’s largest marina — Opened in 1974, the marina has ~1,000–1,300 berths and is the country’s biggest. It was voted “Best International Marina” multiple times by the Yacht Harbour Association.
