🌿 Saturday at Naturally Cool Glamping

One of the lovely things about staying with us is that you never quite know what will be growing, cooking or appearing on the menu. 🌱

Our Saturday menu is created around what’s seasonal, fresh and available in our kitchen — simple, colourful, completely plant-based food made here at Naturally Cool Glamping.

This Saturday:

🥗 Lunch — Loaded Seasonal Salad
🥢 Dinner — Sticky Sweet & Sour Tofu Bowl
🍫 Dessert — Salted Caramel Choc Pot

Our menu changes regularly, so there’s always something a little different to discover during your stay.

Good food, grown slowly, cooked simply and enjoyed under the olive trees. 🌿

✨ What a lovely day we had at our VSGA (Vegan Social Group Algarve) Swap Don’t Shop event! ✨

A wonderful group of people joined us yesterday, bringing along clothes and accessories which were lovingly hung from the olive trees for everyone to browse. The idea was simple – find something new to love without spending money or adding to the demand for more new products. A small step towards caring for our planet while having lots of fun together. 🌍💚

After everyone had enjoyed looking through the treasures and sharing stories, we sat down together for a delicious two-course plant-based lunch under the trees. It was such a relaxed and happy atmosphere, with plenty of laughter and conversation.

Some guests brought their lovely dogs along, who also enjoyed the day, and with the weather being so warm, a few people cooled off in our plunge pool and outdoor shower! 🐾💦

We were also delighted that our homemade vegan dog treats, specially made for the event, were such a hit, along with our gluten-free vegan cakes for the humans! 🍰🐶

One of the best parts of the day was all the chatting and sharing of ideas about creating more community events together in the future. We love bringing people together and creating spaces to connect, share and support one another.

So watch this space… there are definitely more lovely gatherings to come! 💚

Today we discovered what appears to be a family of beautiful Horseshoe Whip Snakes living in one of our old stone walls here at Naturally Cool Glamping. 🐍🤎

Like many people, our first reaction was to ask, “Are they dangerous?” After a little research, we learned that these snakes are actually native to southern Portugal and are completely harmless to humans.

The Horseshoe Whip Snake is an important part of the local ecosystem, helping to keep populations of rodents and other small animals in balance. They prefer to avoid people and use the warmth and shelter of traditional stone walls as their homes.

We feel incredibly lucky to share our little piece of the Algarve with such fascinating wildlife. It serves as a lovely reminder that when we create spaces close to nature, nature often chooses to share them with us. 💚

🌿 The “W**d” That Isn’t a W**d 🌿
Walking through the garden, I couldn’t help but smile at this beautiful carpet of purslane.
Many people would see it and reach for the hoe.
But purslane is actually one of the most nutrient-dense edible plants in the world. Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, it grows effortlessly in the heat, protects the soil, supports pollinators with its tiny yellow flowers, and asks for very little in return.
It made me think about how often we label things as unwanted before we truly understand them.
One of the biggest lessons nature has taught us is that value isn’t always obvious. Sometimes the things we overlook or try to remove are quietly offering exactly what we need.
We’re learning to work with nature rather than against it. To observe before we judge.
Today’s reminder: not everything called a w**d is a problem. Sometimes it’s a gift. 🌱

Sometimes the most special guests arrive with the most beautiful stories. 💚

This lovely vegan couple 🌱 were travelling all the way from Switzerland in their camper van and chose Naturally Cool Glamping as one of their stops because they couldn’t believe that a fully vegan glamping site existed in Portugal. After life on the road, they decided it was time to enjoy a little extra comfort and treat themselves to a few nights of elevated glamping.

They were joined by their wonderful dog, Bahia, whose story touched our hearts. Bahia was originally rescued here in Portugal before being adopted by her forever family and travelling to Switzerland to begin her new life. This trip was a chance for them all to return and visit the country & place where her journey began.

As you can see in the photo, Bahia also loves to dance with her mama and dada! 🐾💃

Their original plan was to stay for just two nights, but they ended up extending their visit to five nights because they loved it here so much. Reading the kind review they left us truly made our day.

Well, I wasn’t expecting this! 🍑✨

These are all from one of our young flat peach trees and it’s only in its second year of production.

A couple of years ago it was a little tree with big dreams, and now it’s filling crates with the most delicious donut-shaped peaches. Every time I think nature can’t surprise me any more, she proves me wrong.

There’s something incredibly satisfying about harvesting food you’ve grown yourself. Watching the blossom appear, seeing the tiny fruits form, and then suddenly finding yourself wondering what on earth you’re going to do with all these peaches!

We’ll be enjoying plenty fresh, freezing some in cubes for smoothies, making a peach crumble (obviously!), and turning some into compote for breakfasts and desserts.

Not bad for a youngster. 💚

Feeling very grateful for this little tree and the abundance it has gifted us this year.

Today I filmed Zorro softly snoring in his stable… and honestly, it touched me deeply.

Such a simple little moment, yet it said so much. A horse who has experienced hurt, fear and uncertainty now feels safe enough to completely relax, switch off and sleep peacefully. That trust is something I never take for granted.

Animals are incredible. No matter what they’ve been through, they still have the capacity to trust again, to soften again, to feel love again when given patience, kindness and safety.

Moments like this remind me why creating peaceful spaces matters so much. 💚🐴⛺️🌱

When we first created Naturally Cool Glamping, in 2020 it began simply as an idea… a place where people could come and enjoy a holiday surrounded by nature.

But as our own journey evolved, so did the vision. By following our intuition, our dreams, and what truly felt aligned, Naturally Cool Glamping has slowly become something much deeper than just a place to stay.

It’s become a space to reconnect. To slow down. To gather around good food, nature, animals, conversation and simple living.

A place where wellness, sustainability, creativity and community naturally weave together. From growing food in our gardens, composting with our rescue horses, hosting wellness days, sharing nourishing meals, or simply sitting under the olive trees watching the sunset… every part of this journey has shaped what Naturally Cool Glamping is becoming.

Our new look and logo reflect this next chapter — softer, more intentional, more connected to the soul of what we are creating here in Algarve-Portugal 💚

And honestly… we feel like we’re only just beginning ✨
