CASCAIS TOURIST BOARD STARTS CAMPAIGN TO ENCOURAGE MORE UK CITIZENS TO WORK AS DIGITAL NOMADS
Portugal’s Cascais tourism board has introduced a campaign to bring a larger number of Britons to the country, through the Digital Nomad Visa, in order to live in Portugal while working remotely for companies or clients located outside the country.
According to a report by GlobeTrends, with a total of 35 million digital nomads in worldwide countries, searches for such a visa have increased by 376 per cent in the last two years, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.Following such an increase, Cascais Tourism Board introduced a new campaign called “It Works for You,” together with DNA Cascais, calling on Britons interested in remote work to go to Portugal.
The same shows that about two-thirds of UK workers are considering moving to other countries in order to work remotely, due to the current situation caused by the spread of the Coronavirus, while the nomadic lifestyle is more appealing than before.
In this regard, the President of the Cascais Tourism Board, Bernardo Corrêa de Barros, has stressed, “We are delighted to launch our brand new digital nomad campaign and to be joining forces with DNA Cascais.”
“Supporting the desires and demands of our tourists is crucial, and we hope the campaign will inspire even more working professionals to consider Cascais as their next ‘workation’ and leisure setting,” he pointed out in this regard.
Authorities in Portugal are continuously attempting to attract a large number of internationals who choose to work remotely.
Previously, Ricardo Reyes from the consultancy Deloitte said that Portugal has to become a top destination to work and live, emphasising the benefits that the country offers for remote workers.“Traditional differentiating factors associated with quality of life in general, the fiscal criterion also justifies this movement,” Reis pointed out, hinting at the context of the Non-Habitual Residents (NHR) regime.
Recently, authorities in Portugal announced that they decided to change its foreign law in order to ease immigration into the country after it is facing labour shortages in many sectors.
Authorities in Portugal also said that the country is facing a lack of workforce, particularly in the tourism industry, thus applying new amendments to the foreigner’s law.
