We’re Ingka Centres. And we love people! Anchored by IKEA, our centres offer many reasons to visit. And we love people. And, what’s our role in all of this?

When people meet each other, incredible things can happen. Ideas sprout, new friendships begin and old friendships get a new start, collaborations produce results and even love blossoms. We provide spaces where this magic can happen. For already 50 years we create places, always anchored by IKEA, where the many people meet. We call them meeting places. And we collaborate with local communities, tenants and partners, to ensure our meeting places bring value to people, communities and the planet. Today we run 34 meeting places in 13 different markets that welcome hundreds of millions of visitors each year.

Who knew a pillow fight could bring a meeting place to life? 🛏️

For International Day of Play 2025, Italie Deux in Paris brought the Pillow Fight Championship to France, filling the meeting place with play, laughter and connection.

It’s a great example of what our Life in Communities 2026 report has found this year: play can help create more engaging spaces, support wellbeing and give people more reasons to visit.

Sometimes, all it takes is a pillow. 💛

From hand-pulled noodles to watermelon-eating contests, play has a unique way of bringing people together.

At Livat Xi'an, we've been using local traditions and seasonal moments to create experiences that invite people to participate, connect, and spend time together.

For us, play is more than entertainment. It's a way to give people reasons to visit, stay longer, and return. These shared experiences help strengthen our connection with the local community while creating value for our tenant partners and the wider meeting place.

Not long ago, the outdoor plaza at Livat Wuxi, China was mostly a space people walked through.

Recently, we upgraded it into Livat Park - a playful, green meeting place. And we see a different pattern: parents stopping to let the kids play, adults staying for a conversation instead of heading straight home, and visitors choosing to meet friends there, not just meet at the entrance.

This fits what we heard in the Life in Communities Report 2026: adults in China are among the most active and optimistic about play. Many already spend more than 2 hours a week on playful activities and express a strong wish for green, outdoor spaces in the city.

By bringing play into our meeting places, we’re designing for how people want to use them, as places to visit, stay and return to, not just pass by.

💛 Some places become memorable not because of what you buy there, but because of how they make you feel.

At Italie Deux in the heart of Paris, every visit is an opportunity to discover something new, celebrate local culture and connect with the community.

Together with local associations, community partners and IKEA, the Meeting Place comes to life through experiences that reflect the neighbourhood and the people who call it home. From Lunar New Year celebrations and local food stories to blood donation initiatives and the BILLY Book Club, every activity is designed with one idea in mind: bringing people together.

Because we believe Meeting Places can be so much more than places to shop. They can be places where everyone feels welcome, included and part of something bigger.

💛 Small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

This summer, our Italie Deux Meeting Place has partnered with the City of Paris and La Fabrique de la Solidarité to support people experiencing homelessness during one of the city's hottest early summers on record.

Thanks to the generosity of our visitors and tenants, five collection boxes were filled with essential items such as sunscreen, hygiene products, hats and sunglasses, representing around half of all donations collected across participating locations.

Thank you to everyone who donated and helped make a difference in our community. Together, we're creating Meeting Places that care for the many.

More than half of adults believe there is a growing play gap 🛹

Yet the value of play is clear. Three in four adults say it strengthens emotional connection, while 61% feel that making space for play in their routines enriches their lives.

Our Life in Communities 2026 research shows that there is an opportunity for Meeting Places to build play into their core. When people feel welcomed into a space, they feel encouraged to take part. Play becomes a catalyst for connection, confidence and joy.
