The 15-month wait-out period for HDB resale is gone. Here's what that means.
Ex-private property owners used to wait 15 months before buying an HDB resale flat.
That rule's been removed.
This isn't a small tweak
it changes who can compete for resale flats, and how fast.
Before that,
if you sold your condo, after the completion
you were locked out of HDB resale for over a year.
Now that buyer pool can move immediately.
Who benefits? Downgraders
people right-sizing,
freeing up cash,
or moving closer to family.
No more sitting out for 15 months.
No more awkward gap of selling your place but not being able to buy your next one yet.
But here's the flip side: more competition. Ex-private owners re-entering the resale pool faster means more buyers chasing the same units.
If you're buying HDB resale, you might feel that pressure sooner.
If you're selling, this could work in your favor β bigger buyer pool.
Bottom line: this isn't a policy footnote. It changes buyer behavior and possibly pricing.
