Singapore Golf Association

Singapore Golf Association The National Body for the Sport of Golf in Singapore

The Singapore Golf Association was registered on 5 October 1961 with the objective of encouraging and promoting the game of golf in Singapore. From a small association of golf clubs, SGA has grown to its present size comprising 11 Full Members, 7 Associate Members and 5 Affiliate Members. Its constitution was amended in 2001 to enable golf clubs without real estate to join SGA as Associate Members

. This allowed the general golfing public to obtain and maintain a golf handicap without having to be members of golf and country clubs. In 2010, the constitution was again amended to accept Affiliate Members which are any body, society, organisation or commercial entity committed to furthering the interest of the sport of golf to join SGA. SGA is a member of the International Golf Federation, Asia Pacific Golf Confederation and ASEAN Golf Federation. As the governing body of golf, it is also an Affiliate Member of the Singapore Sports Council and the Singapore National Olympic Council.

It’s another proud moment for Singapore golf as Hiroshi Tai, SGA Male Golfer of the Year (2025) has been named one of three finalists for the prestigious Byron Nelson Award, which is presented annually to the top graduating collegiate golfer in the United States who exemplifies excellence in academics, character and sportsmanship 👏🏼

Tai recently graduated with a degree in Business Administration (Finance) and a stellar 3.86 GPA, while enjoying another impressive season on the NCAA Division I circuit.

His collegiate journey was highlighted by his historic victory at the 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship, where he became just the fourth golfer in Georgia Tech history to win the individual national title.

With that win, Tai also became the first Singaporean to play in the Masters Tournament in 2025. Together with Brayden Lee and Troy Storm, Tai also secured Singapore’s best-ever result at the World Amateur Team Championships (WATC) with a tied-18th finish at the Tanah Merah Country Club last October.

The winner will be announced on June 15 and will receive an exemption into the 2027 THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson on the PGA TOUR.
