It has been announced today that from 22 January 2024 to 31 December 2026, the Housing & Development Board (HDB) and the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) will relax the occupancy cap for larger HDB flats and private residential properties; thus allowing to house up to eight unrelated persons (i.e. not from the same family unit) instead of from the current cap of six unrelated persons.
Larger HDB flats means those which are 4 rooms and above. Larger private Residential properties refers to those that are of at least 90 sq m.
Home owners wanting to rent up to 8 persons will need to register and obtain prior approval from HDB /URA before the tenancy commencement date.
This is a temporary effort to help ease the current rental pressure. Hope this information will be useful to you.

With no major launches during the June school holidays and depleting unsold inventory limiting the choices available, sales figures plunged by 64%. Despite the increase in interest rate, sales in the CCR hit a record high, since Mar 2021, at 42.2%.
