A total of 340 of the 558 units of condominium Midtown Modern (99 years) in Bugis were snapped up on its launch weekend.

The price of units ranged between $2,401 and $3,501 per sq ft (psf), with those sold going for an average of close to $2,800 psf!!!

Mr Wong Xian Yang, head of research for Singapore at Cushman & Wakefield, said underlying demand is likely to stay firm as interest rates remain relatively low.

"Barring new cooling measures, total new private home sales is on course to exceed 11,000 units (excluding ECs) by the end of 2021, locking in the highest annual new sales figure since 2013, which saw 14,948 new sales," he added.

Sales of new private homes surged last month, making for the second-highest monthly sales this year despite tightened Covid-19 restrictions in the second half of the month.. Read more at straitstimes.com.

Private home prices in Singapore rose 0.8 per cent in the second quarter, slightly below flash estimates released earlier in the month amid the COVID-19 heightened alert period.

The private residential property price index increased to 163.5 points in the second quarter of 2021, up from 162.2 points in the first quarter, according to real estate statistics released by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) on Friday (Jul 23).

Prices up quarter on quarter by 3.3 per cent in Q1 2021, steeper than the 2.1 per cent growth in Q4 2020

As at the end of Q1 2021, there were 23,735 unsold units (including ECs) with planning approvals, down from the 26,426 units as at the end of Q4.
