Last week, I had a fruitful coordination meeting with various Government agencies (SportsSG, NParks, MOH, PA, NEA) on the Bukit Canberra community hub.
The photo shows the latest state of development, which is progressing well.
The rectangle in the middle of the picture is where the future swimming pool will be. On its left is the Polyclinic/eldercare/childcare centre. Further to the left, near the MRT track, the structure with the hexagons is the hawker centre, and the box behind it is the sports and multi-purpose hall.
You can see the Canberra House right at the top of the hill. We are still deciding on its use, but it has to be befitting of a historical monument.
If everything progresses smoothly, we should be opening Bukit Canberra in the second half of 2020, starting with the multi-purpose hall and hawker centre.
Running up to the opening, we are planning to organise a mass tree planting event early next year, to make the whole place green again. NParks is planning to plant 2,000 trees and many more shrubs and plants. So we will need many residents to participate. Look out for the notices!
