Over the past 6 months or so, I’ve watched rent rates skyrocket. Rentals are quickly becoming unaffordable.

Millennials are the next generation of homebuyers yet cost of living is outpacing their wages – forcing them to continue to rent. With demand for housing increasing and supply staying the same, rent rates are going to continue to increase.

The only way out of the rent rat race?

Home ownership.

When you buy a home, you own it. Yes, you’re paying a mortgage but your name is on the deed. You are collecting equity. You are gaining wealth. You now have an asset you can leverage.

Home ownership also means you’ve laid the foundation for building the life you want. It is a long-term, hard work habit. You have to build it step by step in order to have the lasting benefits of home ownership.

I get asked a lot if we’re on the precipice of a housing market crash.

Sadly, I cannot predict the future but I can share with you a little about what I’ve seen in the market over the past months.

🏠 Lot of buyers
More and more homebuyers are millennials. As rent rates skyrocket, these millennials are desperate to get out of the rent race and start building their own wealth.

🏠 Low inventory
Right now, there are simply not enough houses on the market for everyone who is looking to buy. When there’s more demand than there is inventory, prices will remain high. It’s still a seller’s market, and even if the market evens out a little bit, it’ll likely still stay a seller’s market for a little while longer.

That being said, if you want to talk about your housing plans. I’m all ears!

There is no simple answer to the question of "when should you sell your home?" The truth is that every situation is different. Often times, if a property has been on the market for too long with little to no interest and the seller has received offers they felt weren't good enough, they might say "if only more offers came in" but with patience and some minor tweaks to their property listing/ advertising, they can increase interest and ultimately get more views on their home by better representing themselves through an real estate agent.
