"A new Science Centre is set to open in the Jurong Lake District in 2027, aiming to be a one-stop destination for the public to access science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and experiences."

There will be several new features for the public to enjoy, including a children’s gallery, which will feature its own interactive outdoor waterplay area, discovery trails in a secondary forest and a sensory trail at the roof garden.

"Tengah new town (the size of Bishan) will be served by four MRT stations on the Jurong Region Line – Tengah (JS3), Tengah Plantation (JE1), Tengah Park (JE2), and Hong Kah (JS4). This is more stations than some larger existing estates.

It’s necessary to have this many stations because the government plans to make Tengah “a car-lite housing estate”. The idea is that residents will mainly be walking, cycling or shuttling around on self-driving vehicles, so the multiple train stations are necessary."

The Jurong Region Line (JRL) is Singapore’s seventh MRT line, serving both existing and future development in the western part of Singapore. It will significantly improve connectivity of the region and support the development of the Jurong area, which is set to be the largest commercial hub outside the Central Business District. Commuters can expect to be connected to key activity nodes in Jurong, such as the Jurong Industrial Estate, Jurong Innovation District, and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

The JRL will put 60,000 more households in Jurong within a 10-minute walk from a train station. With three interchange stations bringing more connectivity to the existing rail network, commuters will enjoy more alternative routes of travel.
