Close to 7 times as many HDB resale flats sold in June compared with May

The surge in sales was likely due to the end of Singapore's circuit breaker period, said industry analysts.

New private home sales rebound in May despite virus curbs

Developers in Singapore sold 484 new private homes last month, going by sale caveats, Knight Frank Singapore said yesterday. This is 74.7 per cent more than the 277 new private homes they sold in April.

More seem keen on mortgage refinancing as interest rates fall

The three-month Sibor - a key benchmark for pricing most home loans - is about 0.56 per cent this month, well down from 2 per cent in May last year, its highest point since the 2008 global financial crisis.

The Fed's quarterly projections - updated for the first time since December 2019, after officials skipped their March release amid the burgeoning pandemic - showed all policy makers expect the funds rate to remain near zero through the end of 2021. HDB resale volume dips to 30-year low but prices edge up

Prices, however, held steady in May, even increasing 0.1 per cent compared to April.

Analysts said this shows that there was no panic selling of flats, with sellers maintaining their asking prices despite what appears to be free-falling demand.
