Jurong East shopping mall JCube will cease operations from Aug 7, to make way for a new residential development that will include commercial space on the first and second storeys.
CapitaLand Development (CLD) said it obtained the URA's provisional permission to redevelop the existing JCube site into a ๐ฐ๐ฌ-๐๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ฏ๐น๐ผ๐ฐ๐ธ with an expected sales launch in the second half of 2023.
The new residential development, which is targeted for ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐ฝ๐น๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ถ๐ป ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ณ, will "complement the Government's plans to bring new homes - alongside new businesses, recreational facilities and amenities - to the ๐๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ (๐๐๐)".
The new building will be ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐น๐ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐ป๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ผ ๐๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฎ๐๐ ๐ ๐ฅ๐ง ๐ถ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, ๐ช๐ฒ๐๐๐ด๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐ถ๐น๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ถ๐ฎ ๐-๐ช๐ฎ๐น๐ธ, which is the covered elevated pedestrian network in the district.
CLD added it will also be ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ธ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ผ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ฝ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ฎ๐๐ ๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ง๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐๐ฏ, comprising an air-conditioned bus interchange, a public library, a community club, and a sports centre among other commercial spaces.
