SHADE REQUIREMENT FOR LANDSCAPE DESIGN

One of the key design criteria for landscape architect to create a comfortable, cozy and shading outdoor space is to fulfil shade requirement of landscape design.

For HDB landscape projects, a 50% - 50% shade requirement as guide for landscape architect to design softscape with make sure at least 50% of the outdoor space is shaded by planting and nature.

It is also one of the good landscape design guidelines to react global warming and climate changes issues.

LANDSCAPE DESIGN RENDERING PROCESS FOR GOOD CLASS BUNGALOW

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2026!

What a good start with a beautiful and comprehensive landscape concept plans is prepared for the landscape presentation session to clients and architect.

Arranging the trees and shrubs in landscape elevation after the landscape concept plans are done. Based on the trees and shrubs location in the landscape plan, to locate all the proposed planting in the sectional elevations clearly and ensure they are easy to understand during landscape presentation to clients and architect.
Lastly, labelling all the proposed plant botanical names once the landscape elevation is done.

MOST ENJOYABLE TIME IS WHEN SEEING THE DRAWING ARE RENDERING VIBRANT AND SIGNIFICANT. THE SATISFICATION MEANS THE DESIGN RENDERING WORKS ARE DONE.

LANDSCAPE CONCEPT DESIGN PROCESS FOR GOOD CLASS BUNGALOW

After site inventory and analysis, understanding the architect and client design requirement and collecting all the relevant drawings and info, the landscape concept design process is commenced.

The softscape design for the bungalow is quite challenging. There are many existing trees are not allowed to be removed. The architectural design concept is modern and formal. Landscape architect have to design the planting based on the existing site condition, to match with all the existing planting to be retained and modern and formal architectural design concept.

To draft and sketch of planting patterns, select the right plants to the right place, arranging the planting based on plant characters, height and sizes, towards future easy maintenance.

All the design criteria are captured at the initial design stage to make sure all bring forwards to next stage of the project.

I REALLY ENJOY THE LANDSCAPE CONCEPT DESIGN PROCESS EVENTHOUGH IT IS QUITE THOUGHT-PROVOKING BUT EARNEST TO GO THOUGH ALL OF THESE!
