A Diplomatic Clause may allow early termination only when the specific conditions stated in the agreement are met. Depending on the agreed wording, this may include situations such as:

an employer transferring the tenant out of Singapore
employment termination requiring the tenant to leave Singapore
an official order to leave Singapore

However, a Diplomatic Clause is ๐ง๐จ๐ญ ๐š ๐ฆ๐š๐ง๐๐š๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐‡๐ƒ๐ ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ž and is not automatically included in every tenancy agreement. The qualifying reasons, minimum stay period, notice period and supporting documents depend on the exact terms agreed between the landlord and tenant.

When the clause does not apply, discuss the situation with the landlord. Do not privately arrange for another person to take over the tenancy without the landlordโ€™s agreement.
