This is very good news for those looking to buy or sell their current HDB flats! With waiting time shortened by up to 8 weeks, buyers and sellers will have more timeline options when they are looking for their next upgrade property!

The Housing & Development Board will be rolling out a new portal which will make it faster and more convenient for those who intend to buy or sell their HDB flats. To be launched in 2018, the HDB Resale Portal can potentially halve the transaction time from 16 weeks to 8 weeks, and reduce the number of HDB appointments from two to one. HDB just announced today there will be a shorter waiting time for a thousand new BTO flats in Sembawang, Yishun & Sengkang! It will be cut short from the usual 3-4 years down to 2.5 years. However, these flats will be priced at a slight premium. Will they be worth it in the long run? Or would you be better off getting a resale flat paying almost the same premium?

Earlier this year, Singapore Budget 2017 has announced extra CPF Housing Grants of up to $20,000 more for 1ST TIME applicants purchasing HDB RESALE FLATS.

This is on top of the existing PROXIMITY HOUSING GRANTS and ADDITIONAL HOUSING GRANTS already existing.

In addition, smaller resale flats benefit from more housing grants.

URA has just announced today that they have revised the minimum stay period of 6 months for private residential properties to 3 months! This means there will be more flexibility for homeowners to rent out their apartments to short term guests.

However, homes rented through home-sharing platforms are still "disallowed".
